This is a pic of him doing the damn fly on my leg dance, he was definitely much fussier today than he's been. I don't mind it really, he's been so stoic to date, nice to see a little normal horse behavior from him.
This one makes me kinda sad. He's been less squinty in this eye, but it looks so hazy in this pic. In person, it is looking better than it was, but dang.
Just another side shot. Have you guys noticed what a purdy tail this guy has?
He peed in the isle again today. This guy is crazy with this "will pee anywhere" thing. Has no shame at all... he peed during the vet's exam, with all of us standing around him and last night when he was tied and I was standing around shootin' bull with a couple folks. He doesn't seem to be peeing excessively, but it is strange. I'll be chatting with the vet more about that when she comes out Wednesday. I've been reading up on urinary things online today, and haven't seen anything that seems relevant, but well... all strange things go to the vet for now.
If he was ever on the track, that could explain the pee anywhere issue. He could have been one that was trained very easily to pee on cue for drug testing. It may be that he associates a gathering of people to let loose for a drug test.
ReplyDeleteEllie, absolute WORST case scenario would be that he would eventually loose the eye. As the owner of a one-eyed horse, I can tell you it is not the end of the world. Jasper is actually a better horse now and is still beautiful, even with his crater. We also have a horse at the barn that is down to one from uveitis. His outcome is as good as Jaspers, though Jaspers was from an accident.
I think it's more the uncertainty that bugs me. Thinkin' it's looking better then seeing it come out looking so bad in a pic. I really think the vision in that eye is already compromised anyway, but it's so hard to tell with him because he's still not very reactive. If I try to startle him with sudden movements (also known as how to make a "this new girl is insane" impression on folks out at the farm), he doesn't react unless I'm right up on his face, like inches from his eye. And he didn't give a hoot when I blacked out that side of his fly mask with tape either- I lead him to the pasture and turned him out like that and he functioned exactly the same as he has any other time I've done that. But he does seem to watch me when I'm around him, so who knows.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mentioned the track pee thing, I was just talking to Bobbi and Linda about that earlier, saying how he might not have been a good runner, but they musta loved him when it came to post-race urine sampling. It's likely that's all it is and I'm being a worrywart, but hey, that's what I do with him. :)
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteOn another topic...the thing I hate about typing on a mobile device is that you make stupid typing errors. Sometimes the errors are a product of autocorrect. I DO know that word should have been lose and not loose in my prior comment. I should tell you my funny autocorrect story regarding my FB status some time. Chuckle.
Oh, I understand. Most of my posting is done on my droid now and it's made me look stoooopid a time or two. it's almost impossible to avoid typos completely.
ReplyDeleteAnd on a few sites, posting is easy as pie, but editing makes everything go haywire making it impossible to fix things when I notice them after posting. Ugh. Maddening.
